I’ve been thinking a lot about the holidays and all of the events coming up and what to wear! Are you shopping for a holiday dress for an upcoming holiday event or wedding or New Year’s Eve party?
When it comes to shopping for a holiday dress (or any dress for a special occasion for that matter) I follow my usual montra: timeless, classic, and elegant and something that I can wear more than once. No one likes to spend money on a “one and done” dress that will just hang in your closet.
Trying to find a dress for any event can be challenging and shopping for a holiday dress is no different. Not only are the dresses I have to share with you today timeless and classic and could be worn more than once, but they are also affordable! They are all from Amazon so super quick shipping too! For reference, I am 6’1” and usually wear a size 8 or medium in dresses.
Red Velvet Wrap Dress – Wearing a size Medium – $48
Since this red velvet dress is a wrap dress you can really customize the sizing around your chest and wait. It was a good length. The red velvet fabric is very soft and great quality. And the red, almost burgundy color is gorgeous. It has beautiful flowy sleeves. It’s a very rich red velvet color. Pair this with some gold jewelry, maybe a gold handbag and some nude shoes and you are ready to go!

Red One Shoulder Faux Wrap Dress – Wearing a size medium – $37
This is a beautiful dress with a bit of sass with the one shoulder. The faux wrap at the waist lets you cinch it a bit for a good fit around the wait. The red color is also more of a burgundy color and is very rich. The weight of the fabric is nice too with a good drape. Pair this with some really fun large gold earrings, I would skip the necklace because of the neckline and maybe a gold handbag and some nude shoes and you are ready to go!

This is absolutely a timeless and classic dress. Black is always classic. The weight of this velvet bodycon dress is just right to give a perfect drape. Because of weight of the black velvet and the ruching on the side is very figure flattering and the length is perfect. I would pair this with some classic jewelry and black shoes and then maybe a pop of color for a bag.

Green Velvet Tiered Maxi Dress – Wearing a large – $39
I started in a medium in this green velvet maxi dress and found that although the waist is an elastic smocked waist, it was a bit snug so I sized up to a large which fit much more comfortably. This green velvet tiered dress gives me some serious Anthropologie vibes too. VERY similar to a dress they have had great success with this year. I love the flutter sleeve. I love the rich green color of the velvet and I love the maxi length. This dress was a winner for me.
