What’s the difference between fashion versus style? If I love fashion, am I stylish? If I have great style, am I fashionable?
Oscar de la Renta said, “Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself”.
Style is personal. It evolves with age and life circumstances. What your style was in your twenties may or may not be your style today. Style is an individual’s way of expressing themselves through clothes. Your style is a reflection of you.
Fashion, on the other hand, is based in a particular period in time and is about trends. Fashion changes. You may lean into some fashionable trends, but not others. Just because an item of clothing is on trend, it may not fit your personal style, but that does not make you any less fashionable.
